French Vintage MISTINGUETT Music Star in CASINO DE PARIS by Charles Gesmar 1920s

Before Bette Midler, before Liza Minelli, before Madonna, there was Mistinguett --"Queen of the Paris Music Hall" Born in Enghien, France, on April 5, 1875, Jeanne Bourgeois, aspired at an early age to be an entertainer. She assumed the stage-name "Mistinguett" and went on to become the toast of Paris, the most popular French entertainer of her time. Indeed, she was once the highest paid female entertainer in the world. This is a great reproduction of the 1922 year French Vintage poster - one of the Charles Gesmar's famous posters of Mistinguett - turn-of-the-century Paris dazzling music hall star.

1910's - 1920's Metropolitan Hat Pattern

FW269 - 1910's - 1920's Metropolitan Hat Pattern. Includes Women's Small, Medium, Large Hat Sizes in this one pattern. This hat dates from the early 20th century and represents a transitional period in millinery history -- following the oversize Victorian confections of veiling and stuffed birds, but before the head-hugging cloches of the 1920s. Fast and easy to sew, it has a casual and slightly slouchy look, with a modest brim and fabric flowers at center front. There are just three pattern pieces: Brim, Band, and Crown. Each piece is cut twice -- out of fabric, or fabric and complementary lining -- for a fully-lined, easy-to-wear chapeau. The decorative fabric Rosettes can be fashioned out of the hat fabric, contrasting materials such as lace, tulle, or glittering silk, or entirely replaced by a vintage brooch or dramatic button. Suggested Fabrics: Linens, wools, silks, medium-weight cottons, denim, corduroy, fleece. NOTE: For soft, drapey fabrics, lightly interface the Band and Brim to maintain the proper silhouette. Great for Flapper Era, Roaring 20's Edwardian Period hats. Public Enemies, Lady In Red, Faye Rae, King Kong.
